Just a human being

One pensive evening

I find myself lost in deep thought

Searching for the truth

Nothing can comfort me

Neither food nor routine

“Dear one,

Not to worry

Be it good or bad

Be it insult or flattery

We share the burden

Of  every fault and blame

Coz we’re partners in crime

Like a fork and a knife

Like a body and a shadow

Like a whisper and an echo

Like the bone and its marrow

Stay vulnerable

You’re just a human being

Open your heart

Lay bare your secrets

Look me in the eye

Lemme read your soul

I’m your confidante

I will forever stay

Don’t be so hard on yourself

I promise

Everything will be just fine

Sparkle and shine

And we’ll paint the world a burgundy wine.”

I return home

Dreary and tired

Wincing in pain

Ooh! Ouch!

Wounded from life’s daily battles

Wound up tight

Frowning and fretting

The world can be clinical and cold

Just living day to day

Is a superhuman feat

She takes my hands in hers

Her comforting presence

Her angelic touch

Her healing hands

Soft and gentle

Embalm my soul

Only you can make me smile through my trials

Only you can make mild my mistakes

Only you can put my creases at ease

Only you can help me unwind

Only you can make me chuckle at my many moods

Only you can help put my worries to bed

I can be brave in this excruciating pain

Only ‘cause I know you have my back

Falling and failing

But as long as You’re in my corner

I’m getting back on my feet.
