WHAT IS A JOURNEY?
Simply put it is an act of traveling from one place to another. How true it is of life itself. I have been on several journeys (the ones I remember), starting in Punjab, to Delhi, to Zimbabwe, back to India and Delhi and also from student to teacher to student again.
Hi everyone, I am Geetika Saini and this is my bio, though brevity is an art I have yet to master.
I was born in Punjab(1980) but brought up in Delhi where I have resided for most of my life. I attended primary school in Zimbabwe, where my father was then posted, followed by six years at Bluebells International, a reputed public school in south Delhi. I have been a scholar since class 7 and I topped the school in the class 12th board exams. I then did my B.Com (Honors) from Delhi University with a First Division.
I then became an entrepreneur by chance- an educational professional and teaching became my occupation. I co-established and ran a highly successful and popular preschool(with a strength of 150-200 students) in south Delhi for about 15 years. We closed it about a year ago. It was a difficult decision but felt true. Lines from Rudyard Kipling’s poem, If-, an early favorite, come to mind,’ …Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken, And stoop and build ‘em up with worn-out tools: …, And lose, and start again at your beginnings…’ It was time yet again to test if I really had the measure of a true man.
I then took a break and rediscovered my interest in creative writing, poetry in particular and to pursue it, I attended a Skills course in ‘Introduction to Creative Writing’ at the British Council, Delhi. I completed it in October-December 2015 and was awarded an Excellent grade.
[I have since then attended a fashion design course in cutting and tailoring.
I have also completed and cleared the French Beginner’s Level Part A Saison 1(Module 1) in October 14-December 23, 2016 from Alliance Francaise, New Delhi.
I worked on a project for an art foundation in New Delhi in August-September ’18.
My poetry has been published in the community blog of Delhi Poetry Slam and in the Poetry Anthology Guldastaa.
I have completed my B.Ed degree from Maharishi Dayanand University in September 2019. I have worked as the Coordinator for a Non-Profit organization in Delhi from 1.1.19 to 4-8-19. I am currently working as a freelance website article content writer at Dufter.in.
I have attended a 3-day Masterclass for I.E.L.T.S Trainers Workshop with the British Council, Delhi(16-18 Aug 2018). I have completed an online Certificate Program in Virtual Teaching, by Xperiential Learning Systems in July 2020.
I have attended a series of online workshops on flash fiction, basics of poetry writing, prose poetry, fiction/novel writing, storytelling, basics of blogging,Instagram marketing masterclass, search engine optimization by Terribly Tiny Tales, Half Baked Beans and Atraski in July-September 2020.
I have completed a 4-day programme on Leadership Practices in Virtual Classrooms by I am a teacher in September 2020.
I have completed an online certificate Digital Marketing Master Course from Digital Vidya. (October 2020- December 2021.
MY JOURNEY AS A CREATIVE WRITER
A part of the course assignment was to start a blog on anything which interests us so that we can practice writing and receive feedback. I decided to record my journey as a creative writer. I shall post my creative attempts and hope you will be interested to read. Your honest feedback will be highly appreciated. I hope to be a regular writer because regularity pays even in creative arts.
Now for my interests, you have probably guessed that the first is reading, almost everything. I have also deep interest in meditation, spirituality and religion and writing is a meditative activity for me. I lose all sense of time and place and it gets my concentration a 100 per cent. I like to relax by watching English movies and TV series and like to convert inspiring scenes into words. God has also blessed me with an artistic bent of mind and beautiful pictures and images inspire me. A picture is worth a thousand words. I try to draw and paint in words now. I enjoy listening to music that evokes emotions and helps to set the mood for writing. I enjoy most, the genre of mystery, romance and fantasy and like to imagine, escape, dream and fantasize through my writing, experiencing alternate realities, putting myself in others’ shoes.
So here’s hoping you will help me find my voice as a writer, but as Ernest Hemingway says, ‘It is good to have an end to journey towards, but it is the journey that matters mostly in the end.’
“She wore her smile like lingerie.”-Atticus

Haha. On a serious note I travel a lot. I love doing that. There has to be some commonalities, for the amount of texting we are doing. It takes two to tango. 😊🌸
