A Frozen Moment

No one can touch us

No one can reach us

Nothing can penetrate.

In a bubble of our own

Eyes ‘n ears only for each other

Locked in a surreal moment

The world has simply ceased to exist.

Smiling, laughing, giggling,

All at once!

Stuttering and stammering

Out of breath

Out of words.

(-Two childhood sweethearts unexpectedly meet… )

The Past and the Present meet.

Present: “Do you remember?”

Past: “You forget, I remember everything.”

Past: “You were supposed to follow me.”

Present: “You said you needed space.”

Past: “I didn’t mean forever.”

The Future walks in boldly.

The Present caught unawares ‘n clueless.

The Past sneaks behind.

‘In the glare of the sun,

The shadows must retire.’

The clock can’t be turned back,

The Past turns her back.

The Present looks wistfully, after her, as she leaves.

The Future waits patiently; expectantly.

A pregnant pause;

Which way will you go?

You can’t break bread with the Future,

Till you lust for the Past.

You can’t tango with both,

You can’t have a finger in both pies,

You can’t sail with a foot in two boats,

This is not a game for two,

You can’t have the cake and eat it too!

But, how do I decide?

Do I live moment to moment?

‘Coz, what feels oh! So right in the moment,

Feels so wrong in the next.

History awaits…

Dressed in a heavenly dream

The sparkle of crystals

The glitter of stars

Can hardly breathe

Joy over bubbling

At Beauty!

Awe inspiring

Heart arresting.

Touching gingerly,

Lest it vanishes…

Mirror, mirror on the wall…

Don’t look too hard, nor too deep

‘Coz they say the mirror does not lie?

But alas! Fool

You dwelled too long

And paved the path from past to present

Painful memories make their haunting presence

The mirror reflects your inner fears

The past returns vengeful ‘n in satiated

Ever expecting the obviously impossible

And last but not the least

Self- doubt creeps in

To finish the job.

Ah! The stupidity of the mind

The failings of a human heart

The day is not over

Till it is night

The dark cannot win

Till there is light

And the battle is not lost

Till it is not won

Lift the lid

Unbox your potential

Air your thoughts and dreams

Let the possibilities breathe

Say Yes first!

To self

To life, to love and laughter

Before the voices in your head drown you in

Own the present moment

Raise your vision and believe.

“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift of God, which is why we call it the present.”
― Bil Keane

“We are living in a culture entirely hypnotized by the illusion of time, in which the so-called present moment is felt as nothing but an infinitesimal hairline between an all-powerfully causative past and an absorbingly important future. We have no present. Our consciousness is almost completely preoccupied with memory and expectation. We do not realize that there never was, is, nor will be any other experience than present experience. We are therefore out of touch with reality. We confuse the world as talked about, described, and measured with the world which actually is. We are sick with a fascination for the useful tools of names and numbers, of symbols, signs, conceptions and ideas.”
― Alan W. Watts

“My ex-girlfriend was exquisite, while my current girlfriend is merely quisite. The ex always makes the past seem more excellent than the present.”
― Jarod KintzThis Book is Not FOR SALE

“In magic – and in life – there is only the present moment, the now. You can’t measure time the way you measure the distance between two points. ‘Time’ doesn’t pass. We human beings have enormous difficulty in focusing on the present; we’re always thinking about what we did, about how we could have done it better, about the consequences of our actions, and about why we didn’t act as we should have. Or else we think about the future, about what we’re going to do tomorrow, what precautions we should take, what dangers await us around the next corner, how to avoid what we don’t want and how to get what we have always dreamed of.”
― Paulo CoelhoAleph

“I have realized that the past and future are real illusions, that they exist in the present, which is what there is and all there is.”
― Alan W. Watts

“All that is important is this one moment in movement. Make the moment important, vital, and worth living. Do not let it slip away unnoticed and unused.”
― Martha Graham

“The past is a ghost, the future a dream and all we ever have is now.”
― Bill Cosby

“It’s being here now that’s important. There’s no past and there’s no future. Time is a very misleading thing. All there is ever, is the now. We can gain experience from the past, but we can’t relive it; and we can hope for the future, but we don’t know if there is one.”
― George Harrison

“The present changes the past. Looking back you do not find what you left behind.”
― Kiran DesaiThe Inheritance of Loss

Be present. It is the only moment that matters.

“If you are depressed, you are living in the past.
If you are anxious, you are living in the future.
If you are at peace, you are living in the present”

-Lao Tzu

The past is where you learned the lesson the future is where you apply the lesson. Don’t give up in the middle.

“Realise deeply that the present moment is all you have.”-Eckhart Tolle

Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.- Buddha

The present moment is the only moment available to us and it is the door to all moments.-Thich Nhat Hanh

Wherever you are- be all there.- Jim Elliot

Don’t let the past steal your present.

“Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past”

-George Orwel

So here’s

A big yes to life coming full circle

No more semis n arcs to trapeze

When the going gets tough

We’ll together get it going

Off axis is just a different angle

Anchored within

I cannot trip

I cannot fall

My feet don’t miss the ground beneath

Emotions party rock n roll

Swing me like a pendulum

But I stand steel resolved

Loyalty unwavering

Ever centered within

At the crossroads:

I hear white noise

Or is it the lull before the storm?

On our favourite common ground

Will it be a level playing field?

Baited breath and fidgety fingered

Serious as hell!

Side by side

But not eye to eye

Furtive glances

Stand tall, walk tall

But stoop to conquer

A relationship is in the balance

The normal rules of weight dis apply

Facing the truth

Sorry-One needs to say it

The other knows and doesn’t need to hear it

Weaknesses- we all have them

One is willing to admit

The other to accept

The point has come

One wants more

The other deserves more

Both wish the best for one another

And so it is time

When the two need to become one

The whole’s more than the sum of its parts

In the free rein of uncertain times

Let our love be status quo

Love is crystal clear

Yet found when you least expect

I was bracing for the worst!

But my dear

The best is yet to come!

A wake up call

Recap, rewind revise

A swirling roller coaster of images

And suddenly

Off axis, off focus and awake

Upright and uptight

The fall softened

By the mellow yellow of daylight

Question to self

Is this a dream?

Behold the feathery footsteps

Enter the angel of deliverance

Cloaked in white

Magical, surreal ethereal

Reality I can hear, see, smell and touch

Ruffling the bed of my consciousness

The relief of stating the obvious

Mutual recollections

Of the journey beyond

Heartily approved and endorsed

Timid questions and definite answers

Truth shy behind the curtains

Shamelessly naked in the spotlight

Love’s lottery sent back

Hidden closeted

Unheard unseen undetected?

Ah what could have been

Do you not see?

Even the shadows escape

The future closes the door on the present

A coward, unready to face and embrace.

A Date

At the end of a long day

Make a plan

Come home

To a date

When the city retires for the night

Light some aromatic candles

Pour yourself a drink

Run a hot bath

Disrobe your worldly roles

Slip into foamy bubbly goodness

Sink in

Settle in

Listen in to the quiet

Broken only by the sound of running water

Open the page of the book

And dream away……

Final Salute

A breeze blowing strong

Alerting our nerves to collect forth

Grassy knolls standing witness

To the circle of life and death

It is a sunny day

Today nothing about yellow is cheerful

It is a black day

Today nothing about black is elegant

Secrets whisper in the cave

Cry our private silent tears

Hearts thumping to the beat of drums

Feet marching to their onward journey

Courage rising and falling

Struggling to stand

But together keeping time

Secrets are a heavy burden

Only our collective conscience can shoulder

Receive our final salute

We are going down the hill

Fading out of sight, out of mind

Look away before it is too late

Grieving, helpless, unsuspecting humanity

Words travelling like bullets

Pandemonium of shock and fear

Topple feet barely standing

Am I in a trance?

I hear but sounds are arrested

I move but moves are suspended

Listen to my plea

Oh God! May this be not ending

And if it is to be

Listen before your hearing fades

And may love be your release

My eyes finally see what has forever being staring

I can finally leave

Knowing there is no escape to love within or without

Purses and Guns

Picture this:

A little black dress shirt belted,

Tresses shaken and tossed,

High heels clicking,

Dangerous legs,

Swaying hips,

A sexy stride,

The swagger of style,

The power of intimate red,

A sultry voice,

A flirty accent,

Dishing false compliments.

The surprise when soft turns tough,

Sassy turns savvy,

Attraction can be a distraction.

Vanity can kill,

A man’s common sense.

An inner diva released,

The famed femme fatale.

Amidst the noise and chatter,

Distant notes of music,

Waft towards us,

Calling one and all.

Arms in arms locked,

They race.

Hand in hand,

Wisk me away.

To a landscape of

Shimmering sequins,

Shiny disco balls,

Flashing 360 degrees.

Circles of light,

Revolving and dancing.

Faces glowing like

The constellations in the sky,

On a starry night.

Heads on shoulders,

We listen into

Soft lilting music,

Tilting our necks.

Synchronizing our steps

To magic, whispering,

Reaching a crescendo

In the reality

Now and then.
